The Hebrew word Ish (EESH) translates to “husband” and reflects God's passionate love for Israel. While the term baal can also mean “husband,” it typically refers to the Canaanite fertility god, Baal. In contrast, Ish signifies God as the ideal husband—one who loves, provides for, and protects His people. This profound relationship is highlighted in the books of Isaiah and Jeremiah, where God is depicted as the faithful husband of Israel. Despite Israel's unfaithfulness, God refuses to divorce His people, demonstrating His commitment and love.
